Ubuntu changing inputs on TV during boot up

Hi All,

I recently built an HTPC using Ubuntu and Elisa Media Center. I am using a DVI to HDMI cable from my computer to the TV. Initially, The computer would boot up using the PC-D input on my TV. After installing the Nvidia drivers it boots up using the PC-D input and once it's boot up I get video mode not supported. Then I have to change the input on the TV to HDMI input to get video. Is there a way to make it so that it boots entirely in HDMI? If anyone else has had this issue and resolved it please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I tinkered around with an nvidia card some months back. Unfortunately I can't find the references I downloaded to help me configure it. I was wanting to send output to S-video to connect to a TV but also to have output to SGVA in case I connected up a monitor. I never did figure out all of the subtleties. But I know that unless you tell it differently, it will connect to one of the 3 outputs depending upon what it detects is connected (and powered on). I am wondering if that is why you are experiencing it doing different things at different times. You can override this behavior and force the connections you want (supposedly) by editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf. But this is where I got into trouble. It seemed to work but then I had what seemed like difficulties with some video applications. I have forgotten details, and, as mentioned, am not sure where I put the references I found on the Internet. I think there should be some local documentation on the Ubuntu installation about the options for xorg.conf (if you have installed the proprietary driver).

I know this is kind of sketchy but I hope it helps.
