Ubuntu and Xorg don't play nice


I go and leave Ubuntu on, I come back and see Xorg crashed causing the system to hang.

I play a game and minutes later Xorg crashes and you guessed it, system hangs.

I have a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra w/ Nvidia Drivers installed.
512MB of ram
Athlon XP 2100

it wil be helpfull if u could post some logs

/var/log/Xorg.0.log file

i forgpot to mention that i would like to see ur /etc/X11/xorg.cof file also

also what version of Nvidia drivers are u using?

Sure they do, you just have to watch them, like any children.

Anyhow, I'm sort of surprised that you're having problems with an nVidia card... traditionally their drivers are really good. You are using the nvidia official driver, right?

I did. I had dri enabled. It's disabled. Hope that was the problem.

well good that u could figure out ur probelm

with dri i have also faced quite some problem resulting in incorrect display.did not occur to me that DRI might be disturbing u as well
