Ubuntu 9.10, internet slow

my internet speed is very fast in ubuntu 9.04, but becomes slow after I installed ubuntu 9.10,
I check that both ipv6 and ipv4 are on, actually is ipv6 can be removed to speed up the internet?

from what i know: yes, its recommended now and then to remove it, but i dont know how. you gotta google or wait for better advice.***
try adding the hostname in /etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost desktop-sid
127.0.1.1 desktop-sid

i added the desktop-sid after localhost. i read it somewhere.
you will find your hostname in /etc/hostname.
