Ubuntu 8.10 doesn't boots from pendrive

Hi.
I'm Mandriva's 2009 user, and I'm trying in last few days to install Ubuntu 8.10 on my pen drive. But have problem as is in tittle of this post.
1. First. I was trying to do this with a program Unetbootin downloaded from this site: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net
After the every instalation I get:
Code:
Could not find kernel image: linux
boot:_
In file syslinux.cfg is:
Code:
menu title UNetbootin
timeout 100

label unetbootindefault
menu label Default
kernel /ubnkern
append initrd=/ubninit file=/cdrom/preseed/kubuntu.seed boot=casper quiet splash --

label ubnentry0
menu label ^Help
kernel /ubnkern
append initrd=/ubninit

label ubnentry1
menu label oem=OEM install (for manufacturers)
kernel /ubnkern
append initrd=/ubninit oem=oem-config/enable=true
I have changed in this file some path, exactly:
a) path /cdrom on /media/disk (I saw this path in Dolphin)
b) path /cdrom on /dev/sdb1 (I saw this path in Unetbootin)
But error is still aperring when I'm trying to run Ubuntu from my pendrive.
I have edit this file sylinux.cfg like this:
Code:
menu title UNetbootin
timeout 100

label unetbootindefault
menu label Default
kernel /dev/sdb1/ubnkern
append initrd=/dev/sdb1/ubninit file=/dev/sdb1/preseed/kubuntu.seed boot=casper quiet splash --

label ubnentry0
menu label ^Help
kernel /dev/sdb1/ubnkern
append initrd=/dev/sdb1/ubninit

label ubnentry1
menu label oem=OEM install (for manufacturers)
kernel /ubnkern
append initrd=/dev/sdb1/ubninit oem=oem-config/enable=true
and
Code:
menu title UNetbootin
timeout 100

label unetbootindefault
menu label Default
kernel /media/disk/ubnkern
append initrd=/media/disk/ubninit file=/media/disk/preseed/kubuntu.seed boot=casper quiet splash --

label ubnentry0
menu label ^Help
kernel /media/disk/ubnkern
append initrd=/media/disk/ubninit

label ubnentry1
menu label oem=OEM install (for manufacturers)
kernel /media/disk/ubnkern
append initrd=/media/disk/ubninit oem=oem-config/enable=true
But nothing works :/
I have tried to make it form live cd. I used: System -> Administration -> Assistent ...
but when I'm trying to get to ubuntu, the grub which was installed with Mandriva on hard disk is "stronger" than this which is installed with ubuntu, and I see him every time when I'm trying to boot Ubuntu from pen drive.
I have changed the boot priority in bios - the USB-HDD is first, I have disabled even hard disk, and cdrom in boot. Nothing is helping me :/
The only way I founded is that when I'm making standard installation ubuntu on pen drive and my hard disk is disabled from motherboard, but is any solution for me :/
I've tried this solutions on 2 diffrent computers, and nothing works :/

Everything what I've written in the first post I've taken exactly from this site or from my own results, but nothing is working to me :/
Any other advice ??
