I'm a new user of Ubuntu.. I've been haveing problems with my video's 3D acceleration... I've got the advanced desktop efects (compiz fusion) working but my 3d games don't work properly, I've tried many but all have the same problem.... the menu of the game shows fine.. but once the game get's loaded.. it's grafics are shreaded... see "preaty colours" and that's about all I get... and if I try to get back to the menu .. the same it won't show properly.. I can't even see the mouse...

Curiously my 3d desktop cube effect works just fine... and all the other effects ...

What could be the problem ...

There are a lot of factors involved in the performance of a video card. I have read in the Ubuntu forums that playing 3D games while compiz is running will cause the kind of issues you are having. Try playing the game with compiz turned OFF. See what result you get doing that.

nope It's not that... I tryed just now with it off but the same and in wine and in normal mode...
