Post Ubuntu 7.04 freezes

Ubuntu 7.04 freezes

I finally took the plunge from Vista and installed Ubuntu 7.04...after it hung up at 95% I finally rebooted to find it was working fine EXCEPT it freezes up about every 15 minutes...yesterday it went for hours and worked fine...but again today...im stuck! I love this thing but it is driving me crazy. Here is another thread elsewhere that looks like it might be the answer, I am just so new I have no idea what they are talking about!

Can someone speak in english for me? (thats a joke...i know it is in english but it is wayyyy to techy for this nerd).

thanks
paul

Post the relevant hardware your PC is using(Graphics adapter, Motherboard if known, processor..)

I've had similar problems with Firefox. Not sure what it was, but it was constantly freezing up. My mouse and keyboard would respond, I just couldn't access Firefox, menus, etc. Usually restarting X(Control Alt Shift) would fix the problem. It got to be a fairly regular occurance, and I got sick of it so I switched to Opera.

No problems since.

I think that should be ctrl+alt+backspace to restart X.
If it freezes, it's time to switch to another distro, IMO.
My Kubuntu 6.10 sometimes freezes on shutdown (black screen on death)
