Ubuntu 5.10:Grub 15 Error

Ok, recently Windows Xp messed up on me so I decided to try Linux. I installed Ubuntu and afterwards it came up as a Grub 15 Error. I have the Install and Live CD's but now it wont run them. I go to boot cdrom but it wont read them. I dont know what to do...Anyway care to help on either subject?

From the GRUB manual found here, error 15 is:

15 : File not found
This error is returned if the specified file name cannot be found, but everything else (like the disk/partition info) is OK.

This is probably a configuration error that can usually be corrected fairly easy...if you can boot the machine.

Is your BIOS set to boot from the CD-ROM before the hard drive? Check that it is and, if not, change it. Then boot with your live CD and post the contents of /boot/grub/grub.conf (or /boot/grub/menu.lst) to this thread. There's probably something borked in that file that gives you the error 15.
