Ubuntu 13.10 suddenly crashes

First post, please be gentle on the noob.

Has anyone had trouble with Ubuntu 13.10 suddenly crashing? For no consistent reason the screen just turns off. This is a recent install on a Toshiba P100-ST9412. The same install on a Gateway desktop has not produced the same results.

I have had 3 instances of warnings of a serious error that reported themselves to Canonical

What log files should I post to help track this problem?

Thanks

Welcome to LQ!

Please provide detailed information about the errors, that is the kind of thing we need to know to help you solve problems. If you can reproduce the error text that would be great. Please use the BBcodes and the code code for better readability .

Regards

I have tried to find the logs of what was sent to Canonical by searching files for "log", but can't locate what was sent. The problem keeps reoccurring without any notices of what the problem is. I am seriously thinking of trying 13.04. I do not have this problem on another laptop that runs 12.04LTS

I am running on an Intel T2500 w/ 4GB Ram Installed (3GB visible). When I wiped the hard drive and installed 12.04LTS, I got the "crash" at boot. This is a video driver/card problem, since the screen goes blank and there is hard drive activity after getting the dark screen. I have re-installed 13.10 and have started playing with video driver settings.

Thanks for all the help!

Does it still crash?
