Ubuntu 11.10 HDMI not working for Audio and Video
ALL,
I have a HP 4285dx laptop with the ATI Radeon HD 6370. I am trying to use the HDMI output to connect my new Linux box to a TV. I try to do a detect displays and it does not see the TV as a monitor. This same laptop will have success with Windows 7 installed. Obviously there is something else I need to do. I did notice that when shutting down the laptop I did indeed see the Ubuntu logoff screen on the TV. Has anyone had luck using HDMI for Ubuntu 11.10 or other versions? |
should be automatic

Are you using the free radeon-drivers or the proprietary AMD drivers?

ALL,
I am just using the standard video drivers that came with Ubuntu. I installed the driver that came from ATI and I had problems with a black screen booting up and freezing. I really feel that that is the problem. I will wait until the next driver version comes out. Thank you. |
I have a vaio F series with nvidia graphic card. Same problem. My TV does not detect the signal from my Ubuntu 11.10 machine.
Is there any problem with something like a "driver" of the HDMI output port? |
I have a Radeon HD6450 installed in a Dell Dimension 9200. I use the HDMI port to connect to a Pioneer VSX-521 Mult-Channel receiver which HDMIs to a Toshiba TV. I have installed Ubuntu 11.10 on a dual boot with Windows 7 and cannot get it to boot beyond the flash screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Catalyst11.12 driver and cannot get it to work. Windows 7 works fine.
