Tried Ubuntu 11.0.4 - Went back to Ubuntu 10.10
 

Tried the new release, but I tried to customise WITHOUT touching neither the Dash OR Launcher settings, but upon reboot I lost All navigational abilities... and Dash and Launcher were No Longer available! I had to ReInstall to recover!!
And Dash Needs a Lot of Work to help with navigating to Applications as the current version just gets in the way!
So I am sticking to 10.10 LTS until 11.nnn is Stable and "ready for Prime Time". Sad to say it feels and acts like it was RUSHED into Distribution. And has blemished Ubuntu's high standards...

While I agree with your impression of Unity, 10.10 is not an LTS (3 years support). That is 10.04. 10.10 is a regular release with 18 months of support.

11.XX might never be as 'stable' as you would like.

11.04 isnt going to get much work done to it now, 11.10 is moving to Gnome 3 so its almost bound to have problems.

12.04 _might_ be the next version that will do what you want. Or canonical could make a mess of that one as well......
