touchpad mouse asus laptop x50gl

My touchpad doesn't work if I start Ubuntu from the hard-drive. However, if I start from the live CD, it does.

Can anyone explain this?

Congrats Ubuntu, wifi works like a dream, something I never expected!

Well fixed that.
Normally, I always boot with acpi=off, as all previous Linices I had freeze and crash if I didn't. However, if I boot without acpi=off in Ubuntu, the touchpad works, and, best of all, the computer doesn't freeze!!
