Toshiba satelite 2410, Monitor resolution/refresh rate problems

Hi everyone, I'm running ubuntu 6.10 edgy and i can't seem to get it to detect that my monitor is capable of 1024x768 (at 75 hz) and above resolutions. I tried following the "Howto: change resolution/refresh rate in Xorg" guide at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=83973 tried both the reconfigure method and just editing the xorg file

here's a copy of my xorg file

# nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig
# nvidia-xconfig: version 1.0 (buildmeister@builder3) Tue Aug 1 21:11:12 PDT 2006

# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
