Tor & Privoxy - how to get it to work?

I have been trying for about 5 days now to get these things to work with no luck. I do have them installed, & turned on but this is what I get on 3 different attempts.

Does anyone [please] have any suggestions as to what I should do?

A little more info please

Hi,

What version of Ubuntu are you running? I run Tor and Privoxy, installed from Synaptic on 5.10 and everything works fine with Firefox. Are you starting them from the command line? If everything starts up fine, possibly you are visiting pages that you have cached? If so, try clearing everything and visiting an IP checker, such as ipid.shat.net.

Good luck.
