Steam


Is Steam really ported to Ubuntu 12.04 if not does anyone have a clue as to when.

Well, for now, they're working on porting over the steam client and Source (their main game engine, which powers everything from Half Life 2 and beyond) based games. They've already contacted third parties already publishing Linux versions of their games for integration inside steam.

If you're expecting the same games you get in the Windows version, I think you're going to be disappointed. They're only going to have what's native to Linux, which is not going to be the same selection at all. That is, if they ever get it working.
