Post sql manager lite vs ubuntu's firebird

I installed firebird2.1-super on ubuntu 8.10 and sql manager lite using wine.I'm trying to connect the fb server (in ubuntu) from sql manager lite ( in wine or windows). The paths I supplied for host registration in sql mgr are :

C:\windows\system32\fbclient.dll
Z:\opt\firebird\security2.fdb

Both of these exist in my box. When I press "Test connect" , I get error that says neither gds32.dll nor fbclient.dll found.
Please tell me how to connect client /server in this scenario.s
