Splash Screen problem

Hello Everybody!
i have ubuntu hardy install in my laptop, couple of days ago i changed the splash screen, but then again changed my mind and changed it! now the problem is that i get two splash screens!!! one when logging in to the system and one when logging out of the system. The first splash screen i installed, it shows up when logging in and the second one when logging out.I even deleted the first one, but no change !!!! and also i found that i no more have some applications sound! like pidgin system sounds (but the system sound does work).

Cheers and i hope i get help

until you get a better reply

do you mean the grub splash screen or the kernel splash screen = hiding the kernel messages?

assuming you mean the kernel one....look in /etc/rc6.d and see if you can see a splashy?

use root powers to edit it to point to new one or delete it.

2) sound can be trickier I would start a new post
