Sound M2350

I have an Emachines M2350 laptop that I installed Ubuntu Breezy (v5.10) on. Everything works fine as far as I know, besides the sound. The laptop speakers do not work at all, but when I plug in headphones, I can play sound over them. On https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupp...sLaptopsOthers it says to disable all jack sense and external amplifier switches. Is this the problem? If so how do I do this?

Perhaps the speakers are just muted?

Sound ON

The volume is turned up for everything and nothing is muted. It still makes no difference.

No Sound

Is there anyone else who has the same problem? Or who has an M2350 with the sound all working right?

I was just looking through my previous posts, and noticed this one. I did manage to get the sound working after a while and a bunch of messing around and reinstalling.

Here is how you have to do it:

Install Ubuntu first.

Then type in sudo apt-get install kde, to install kde.

Then open up Kmix under kde, and disable the external amplifier switch.

I know this sounds like a crazy way to do it, and there probably is an easier way, but I havn't found it. I tried just installing kubuntu, and disabling the external amplifier switch, and that didn't work. I also tried disabling the axternal amplifier switch under ubuntu, but that doesn't work either.

Hope this helps someone.
