Signature Verification error code
Was running update under sudo and at the end of the session the following error code came up:
W: A error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: http://archive.canonical.com precise Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5 Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key <firstname.lastname@example.org>
W: GPG error: http://archive.ubuntu.com precise Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5 Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key <email@example.com>
W: Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/...recise/Release
What do I do to fix this little dilemma? Which commands do I run?
That error seems to indicate that the gpg key is installed on your box.
It is not matching with the mirror you are using.
The first thing to do is try a different mirror.
If the gpg had changed it should have been upgraded in your system at the time of the change. It is possible that it didn't though. If you have the same problem with other mirrors you should reinstall the gpg key in question.
This is a good source of inforation on dealing with Ubuntu 12.04;
I didn't download a mirror it was downloaded via a CD. I'll download a new mirror and try that. Or I'll try find the keys using the command line. Thanks for the link, it was very helpful and useful. Thanks for your wisdom and input
