Removing Rhythmbox and ONLY Rhythmbox.

How do I remove Rhythmbox without removing ubuntu-desktop? I simply don't want or need it.

apt-get remove rhythmbox

If apt wants to remove other packages, then it believes those other packages depend on the package being removed. In this case, you can't have a ubuntu-desktop installation without rhythmbox.

That being said, removing ubuntu-desktop won't do any harm either, as it's only a metapackage.

In the ubuntu-package description it say's that it's needed by some upgrades.

Well I'm gonna remove it.

Before you upgrade from Dapper to Edgy, you should reinstall ubuntu-desktop.
