Removing old kernels - got a warning

Thanks for the tips on cleaning up old kernels.
After running -
apt-get remove --purge linux-image-2.6.22-14-generic

At the end I get a warning:

rmdir: failed to remove `/lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic': Directory not empty
dpkg - warning: while removing linux-image-2.6.22-14-generic, directory `/lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic' not empty so not removed.

Should I delete these manually, or just ignore the warning?

Thanks
T.

First make sure that there is nothing valuable (or still used) in that directory, then you can delete it manually.
