Right-click on the icon or text and choose "Remove..." (I don't really remember that thing, but that's the usual way to remove any item in a taskbar).

If you mean the menu entry in the "System" menu - that's another issue. I think this'll involve uninstalling some parts of the documentation or digging into some GNOME config files.

Remove the package ubuntu-docs, that'll do.

rob33n:

No, you can't. I thought so, too, but than I tried, and it's really not in there - and neither is "About GNOME".

Yes you can do it. Try again. But my way it is just removing the title. But if you want to remove completely I don't know the solution.
But in Menu Editor (System - Preferences - Main Menu) it's ok!

I don't want to argue - I simply don't see those entries on my system using Menu Editor. I know where they should be (right under the "System" tab) but they're not there to uncheck. Or do you use Alacarte?

But anyway, I'm using Hardy on this machine... on my sole Intrepid machine, I've already removed all such stuff (GNOME and Ubuntu docs), so I can't be sure what would have been possible. I simply know that as soon as you remove the package I stated, the entry will be gone. If you can uncheck them using Menu Editor in Intrepid, that's fine by me.
