ReiserFs corruption under 6.06/10 rebuild-tree necessary

I had to shutdown a 6.06 install yesterday by pulling the power to it. I got filesystem corruption on the /boot and / partition, don't know about the swap.

I had to reinstall grub and the kernel images from a 6.10 install to get the machine limping back to life. I get an error saying fatal disk corruption and that the / FS needs to be fsck. It is a reiserfs FS on a raid 5 1.4 TB partition. After running the fsck the first time it said I needed to run with option --rebuild-tree.

Do I need to stop this and remount the FS as a rw or will it be fixed in the current mount of ro? I ask because at the current rate fsck will be done in a good 20-22 hrs.

You appear to be going down a path that I have traveled. My experience with Reiser FS is very disappointing. I had file corruption problems, bad blocks that couldn't be fixed, missing files, and the repair tool getting into an endless loop. I chaned to XFS but my experience with that isn't any better. Now I'm using ext3. So far so good.

I recommend reformatting your disk partitions with ext2 or ext3 and restoring from backup or installing fresh. If you install from backup you will have to modify your initrd boot file and your /etc/fstab file to show the correct file system type for the root partition.

After the rebuild, df shows me with almost a TB less used space than I did... Not sure what to do now.
