Recurring failure to resolve openoffice dependencies, possibly due to held packages

Distro: Ubuntu 9.10 (partially upgraded to 10.04)
Terminal log below:

E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.
E: Unable to correct dependencies

In addition, I was unable to uninstall libreadline5 (since I already have libreadline6 installed). It appears that libreadline5 may be the source of this problem with dependencies.

How about trying
Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
after changing your sources.list from karmic to lucid.
