ralink and Ubuntu (RT3090 and 10.4.2, specifically) wireless problems

I am running a dual boot Win7 and Ubuntu 10.4.2 on a Gateway machine with i7 2600 cpu and Ralink RT3090 wlan card (sez lspci).

Anyway, lspci also says that the kernal driver in use is rt3090 and the kernal module is the rt3090sta.

It appears that ubuntu 10.4.2 isn't even seeing the card, much less connecting with it. Googling tells me about blacklisting drivers and such, and I'd rather not have to do recompiling, etc.

Ralink's website for the 3090 linux driver gives me a 404 error.

Any suggestions?

Have you tested the live CD for Ubuntu 11.04? It is possible that the newer kernel on 11.04 will work better with your Ralink card.

No, I haven't. The reviews of Ubuntu 11.04 have been terrible, so I'd like to avoid it and see what I can do to make 10.4 work.
