Raid 5 on controller support

Hello,

I have an Asus M2N board with, and I am running Feisty.

Has anybody figured out a raid5 configuration that works with Ubuntu Feisty? I can use a Rocket Raid 1640 card on FreeBSD and it works very well. I would like to do the same thing with Feisty. Even if I needed a different card, that would be ok with me. I don't want to use a pure software raid 5 LVM arrangement. Contrary to popular belief, most of the plug in cards are hardware raid, they just don't provide full transparency to the operating system without a simple driver. The Rocket Raid card with Raid 5 loaded makes the machine so fast it is unbelieveable. I don't mind purchasing another card, so long as it works with Ubuntu.

Anyway, if anybody has a good configuration, I would sure appreciate your comments.

Regards,

Randy.

Try to find this on your system, it might be there. I found it in my ubuntu 6.06 dapper drake with the help of the following: # locate raid. /usr/share/doc/mdadm/rootraiddoc.97.html

Good luck!
