ps -A reveals two instances of gdm running

Hi!
My laptop is running Ubuntu 7.04 with Compiz Fusion. My laptop is Acer Aspire 5100 with AMD Turion 64 with 512 MB RAM and ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 card.
My problem is when I log into the Xgl session, the GNOME splash screen appears twice once during the desktop is loading and the second time a few minutes later.
When I do ps - A, it reveals two instances of gdm running. Is it normal, or is something skewed?

On my machine there's two running copies also. It's probably just a fork of the original process waiting at a terminal for another user.

Code:

4715 ?        00:00:00 gdm
 4716 ?        00:00:00 gdm

I have 2 as well. Seems like it is normal and nothing to worry about.
