Problems with root

Hello!

I can not get login as a root in GNOME, because that feature is disabled.

I have tryed from not-root user account with:

System -> Administration -> Login Screen Setup
Security Tab -> Options -> Allow root to login with GDM (Checked)

... but program crashes all the time.

Is it possible to change something in configuration files, to enable GNOME login as a root?

Thank you in advance!

That looks about right for allowing root to log in, though it's not recommended, hence why it's disabled by default. When you say the program crashes, what error message was gdm display whilst trying to login as root, and are you trying to log into Gnome or another window manager? Also, what distro are you using and what version of Gnome?

Have you set a root password?
Code:
sudo passwd

Sure, root password is properly set, and I can login as a root from shell console.

I did manage to solve this.

I did manage to login as a root when I started Ubuntu in system init state 1.

Hope it will help to other Ubuntu users.
