Unhappy Problems with Firefox after Installing 7.10

Hello,

Sadly I am writing this from my Windows XP machine

I was a EXTREMELY happy with Ubuntu 7.04...I normally used Fedora and other Red Hat based Distro...Until I tried Ubuntu and was very happy with it.

So I figured "Since 7.04 was SO good...7.10 would be better"...and it was...until I opened Firefox...

When I am online with Firefox, it will crash. My system will become unresponsive and I have to do a restart via the powerbutton. This usually happens when I am online with Firefox; The system becomes unresponsive and "freezes"

I've checked /var/log/messages with no luck. Where are the error messages (logs) for Fierfox stored? Anyone else have this problem? Should I try another browser (I've heard good things about Opera...)? Or should I just go back to 7.04? Any help would be great...thanks

-Custango

You may want to double check that your video card has the proper drivers installed. Don't know what card you have but are you using restricted drivers?

Yes, I am using the restricted Video Drivers. Should I not? I'll give that a try.

Also I comment out the IPV6 stuff in /etc/host

Which video card are you using? If you are using the ATI based cards and prefer the proprietary 'fglrx' driver take a read at this link:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI

Or the NVIDIA driver, take a read here:

http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Gutsy#NVidia_Driver

When I upgrade from Edgy to Feisty I had lock up problems with firefox and had to upgrade my video drivers. When I upgraded to Gusty I have had no problems and am using the ATI restricted drivers manager to handle the proprietary drivers.
