I was trying to install Ubuntu 9.04 on an old(~7 yr old) desktop the other day and after I told it to begin installation it behaved like starting up (i.e. showed th ubuntu logo with the bar) and after a few seconds the screen went off and displayed a blue rectangle with the words "None Supported" in it, and basically got stuck.
Anyone know what the issue may be and what flavor of ubuntu(or other user friendly Linux) might be best for installation instead of 9.04?
It was indeed a monitor/video card resolution problem- the default resolution of the video card was too high for the monitor.I managed to install it finally after downloading 9.10 and booting from a usb stick in safe graphics mode, with major help from a friendly Linux guru.
