Problems after xorg update

Hello
I have updated the xorg package from adpet and when I have restarted the computer the kdm login screen just does not show.

I have tried in rescue mode the following commands
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
and have autodetected the video card and the monitor as well
and after that I have tried
/etc/init.d/kdm restart
and have rebooted the computer again but nothing has happened
I just cannot log into my system again

Does anybody know how to resolve this problem ?

supposing you downloaded the new update, this is the solution that worked for me :

Solution:
When your Xserver crash and you are at text console type this:
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-core=1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10
(from ubuntu forums http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=240957 )

apparently the version just before update was xserver-xorg-core=1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10 the update which crashes ubuntu is xserver-xorg-core=1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10.3 and a new fix is xserver-xorg-core=1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10.4

by now I would sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-core=1:1.0.2-0ubuntu10

Thanks for the info. The exact same problem happened to me and now is fixed. If only I had found this immediately instead of after an hour of fighting with it . . .

Or you could just update to the fixed version which is 10.4

Well, at the time I wrote the post, that update wasn't yet available, it was an emergency solution that worked.
But thanks for the info, I'm not afraid anymore to update the xorg-core...
