problem with "inbox" using evolution

Hi
I am using evolution 2.6.1 for my e-mails. some how when trying to add an additional contact, I screwed up my "inbox". I have saved a large number of my e-mails in folders. They are all there and I can access them OK.

When I go to "receive" mail, I can see it comming in OK, but the e-mails don't display
.
The "inbox" iists 1772 messages, 8 unread. Clicking on the "inbox(1772)" does not display anything.

I tried to "copy" the "inbox" without success, but I ended up with a sub-directory below the "inbox". When I clicked on that, I got a listing of all 1772 messages I had saved in the various folders.

Since I have backup my "contact" list and my folders on another computer I tried to re-install evolution, with the "purge" in adept, but when I then installed evolution again, I was right back where I was.

I can send and receive mail OK, just can't display it.

I tried to go to an "evolution" forum, but could not find one

Any help would be most welcome. thanks

I will use another computer to look for any replies.

Ok, first, make sure you have backed up all of your e-mails and contacts.
Second, uninstall evolution.
Third, remove the .evolution folder from your home directory - it contains all of your evolution settings and usually remains even after the program has been removed.
Fourth reinstall evolution and your backed up e-mails and contacts.
