Problem playing music off of NTFS Windows parition in 5.10
I just installed 5.10 tonight. I had no problems mounting the Windows parititions on my drives, however I have a problem getting Rhythmbox to read from them. When I type "rhythmbox song.mp3" in from the directory on the Windows partition the song is on, it gives me this error:
(rhythmbox:3739): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed. I even tried copying the song from the partition into my home directory. When I try to play it with Rhythmbox, it tells me I don't have permission, even if I am root. It seems as if I can not read any of the files from these partitions. Is there any simple way to getting this to work? |
I just tried playing a stream from Digitally Imported, an online radio channel, and neither Rhythmbox nor Amarok played it, even though it played in both Debian and Suse 9.3. What is it that I need to fix?

Do you have the mp3 codecs installed?
You will need to add them to get it working. Ubuntu doesn't install them by default- make sure the universe and multiverse repositories are enabled. Then search synaptic for the mpeg codecs. |
