Problem on upgrade 10.04 desktop to 12.04

Hi all,

Ubuntu 11.04 desktop host (64bit)
Ubuntu 9.04 desktop VM (64bit)
Virtualizer Oracle VirtualBox

I followed "Network Upgrade for Ubuntu Desktops 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS (Recommended)" on;
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Pr...S_to_12.04_LTS

"update" and "install update" went through without problem. After finish it needs to reboot the OS. After reboot pressing "Check", "Upgrade" doesn't appear.

$ uname -a
Code:
Linux ub1004dktop02 2.6.32-41-generic #88-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 29 13:10:32 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ uname -r
Code:
2.6.32-41-generic
The kernel is NOT ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Pls help. TIA

B.R.
satimis

Solution for your problem is there on the link you gave:
Quote:
Note that the page under https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrecisePango...untu_12.04_LTS says: "It is generally recommended that users of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS wait until the first point release, due in July, before upgrading." Follow the instructions there if you want to upgrade earlier since the following instructions will probably not work until then.

No, the quote says you should follow the upgrade advices in the release notes.

update != upgrade

In general I concur with the latter advice - wait awhile. And IMHO this applies to all Ubuntu, not just the LTS.
