Wink problem install dapper rc


i have installed ubuntu many times before but it seems im having problems with the graphical installer crashing. i have a 250gig hd hda1 windowsxp 30gig partition for dapper and a 1.6 gig swap file the installer gets to about 80% then it crashes i just cant seem to get on track with ubuntu anymore any help would be greatlt appreciated. P3 750 384 mb mem nvidia geforce5500 vidia card 250 gig hd after hda1,winxp it goes to hde5 root=30gig and hde6 swap=1.6gig what am i doing wrong

First thing that comes to mind is that the ISO could be bad. Might want to download it and reburn it.

i bought these cds from a reputable linux site i cant download as i have dialup

Just in case things don't work out, you could get Ubuntu to ship you the final version of Dapper for free. I imagine you'll have to be a little patient though, the demand must be enormous!

As I recall, there is an option to check the disk for errors when you first start the installer. (It is the third or fourth item down.) Try that to confirm that the media is OK. (It probably is, but it would not hurt to check.)
