Problem in Lubuntu 12.04 Xorg Radeon Driver Issue?
Hello,
I installed Lubuntu 12.04 on PowerMac G4 AGP Graphics. It has a Radeon 9000 RV250 Chip inside. I assume that the use of ati video driver by default. I tried to set up a xorg.conf but it doesn't help a lot. The problem is i can start via lightdm the system but always i try to start an application the computer goes into commandline and freezes where nothing worked. There are several messages from recent installed kernel but not sure how to indentify it. One comment btw is instruction dump. Any help would be appreciated. greetings raleeha P.S. If you need more information i will try to give it. Sorry for my bad english. |
hi all,
well ok just installed the vesa driver and now it seems working without freeze but i will watch this for sure. thanks for reading raleeha |
You might try xorg.conf using eg vesa driver (ugly picture but may work).
You should also look at /var/log/Xorg* and /var/log/lightdm/* files. If you can boot the computer in recovery mode, you should be able to see what caused the crash. However, it may be of little help. Try also to see what do kernel messages have to say about radeon. Best, Ott |
