printing problem: localhost psw requested to setup HP printer?

hello guru,

i'm just trying to setup my HP printer: until a certaint point the setup process goes entirely automaticly, my ubuntu was able to recognise the HP model, to install the correct drivers and so on but...before terminating the setup I'm asked to insert the localhost password?? i've tried to insert some system password but never matching te one aspected.
is there someone able to tell me wich kind of password and why, the setup is asking for?

thank you in advance

If it was "stupid", it would be asking root password. Though Ubuntu (by default) has root password frozen (set to a non-valid value), and for good reasons - typically most of the people who complain about that are newcomers who haven't thought about it really - so you couldn't give it, except if you set a valid root password first. And you shouldn't need to do that. If you ran the setup program with (gk)sudo, it would be running with root privileges already, so why would it still be asking passwords?
