preparing to return to 64-bit Ubuntu

My machine is a dual core amd64. It arrived with 64-bit Kubuntu installed, but I downgraded to 32 bits just to get stuff to work. Now that 9.04 will soon be official, I plan to buy the amd64 DVD set and upgrade back again. Hopefully the OS and my understanding of Linux have improved since then.

Basically I want everything to work again. I will back up my /home directory, print out passwords just to be safe, etc. I use the following apps a lot: Firefox, Kmail, Aptitude, Dolphin, OO Word, Wine, Cedega, Emacs, Kate, Eclipse, and lots of games.

Could anyone please provide a heads-up on where I might have difficulties, and what I can do about them? Would you recommend I make this switch, or hang on to 32-bits for a while longer? Any advice is welcome, thanks!

You will have no difficulties. 64-bit is better. I have never installed 32-bit Linux on 64-bit AMD systems ...since Kubuntu-7.04 or before
