Please Help! Ubuntu keeps overwriting system files!

I have no idea why this is happening, but I'm having HUGE problems with networking, and one of the reasons is that something in Ubuntu keeps overwriting my resolv.conf file. This networking issues is very difficult for me to figure out as it is, and when the system keeps restoring files that I've changed, it's a completely losing battle.

Does anyone have any idea why this file in particular is being overwritten? Once ubuntu 'corrects' it, my network is hosed and I'm back to step one.

Please help...

It sounds like your DHCP software is doing it when you connect to your ISP. Most clients have a switch to prevent updating resolv.conf - do you know what your client software is (dhcpcd, etc.)?

No, but I'll go look it up. The box is contacting my router, not my ISP directly, and the box is controlling the DHCP. This is a link to my other thread on the networking, which might give a better explaination of my setup.
