gedit will create, edit, script files just fine in any language. When I exit, I get the error

* (gedit:3371): WARNING **: Could not write gedit state file: Failed to create file '/home/me/.gnome2/gedit/gedit-2.KP6X9X': Permission denied

The file saves just fine. I have noticed that upon restart my gedit settings (syntax highlighting, etc) are not saved. I have tried editing permissions for the file specified above. I am able to change permissions but it does not resolve the problem. Is there a particular set of permissions I need? I have tried a few, including rwx for all group and user. thanks in advance

Also, the files save and compile, execute just fine. Seems to be a pesky error, may or may not be linked to my inability to save gedit prefs through a reboot
