Opera 9 on Ubuntu 7.04

Hello,

Today I installed Ubuntu 7.04 and after installing necessary plugins and software, I installed Opera webbrowser (I have 9.10)

First time it complaint about missing dependency libqt3 and which I installed. After that Opera installation was successful. However, now when I try to launch it, it simply don't run. I tried to launch it via terminal to see the problem and found following message :

Code:
kirtimaan@myhost:~/$ opera

Is it due to any compatibility issue or missing library ?

Please guide.

Thanks, Kirtimaan

I see the first two lines and then a segment fault on SUSE 10.2 and opera 9.10. It would appear to be a problem with opera or maybe a plugin.

Found solution!

Hello cybertaz,

Thanks for your reply. I finally found a solution for running Opera with my Ubuntu 7.04 installation.

I downloaded Opera 9.20 and installed that and it started working without any problem. So lesson which I learn : Always use latest version.

Try Opera 9.20 with Suse 10.2 and let me know if it works or not.

Thanks, Kirtimaan

Thanks, that fixed it for me too. I think there was an update (at least in SUSE) that botched Opera. When I first installed last weekend, it worked. It finished doing the updates. I rebooted and it didn't.

cybertaz, I think there was some update related to qt libs which caused problem with Opera. And updated opera was able to handle that so it worked!

Now, I am able to use without any problem and also liked Speed Dial feature in new opera. So it worth to use latest version always
