"null pointer exception" Ubuntu vp702x


Just upgraded to Oneiric Ubuntu 11.10, All is well until I decided to use VP702x USB DVB-S. Now the system tries to download the firmware and experiences a "Null pointer Exception".
This is the info from the system:

I haven't dug into it yet byt just would like to see if anyone else has experienced this... did a quick search but came up with zilch so far...

Have you tried to install the firmware manually? Also check this: http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/lin...ne/010768.html

Tried to do the following:
sudo rmmod dvb-usb-vp702x dvb-usb dvb-core
ERROR: Module dvb_usb_vp702x is in use
ERROR: Module dvb_usb is in use by dvb_usb_vp702x
ERROR: Module dvb_core is in use by dvb_usb
Then I tried plugging in the usb cable from the receiver after I rebooted the system and then system did a kernal panic and locked up...
