not able to hear sound in vlc player....am usin ubuntu 8.10

hi am not able to hear any sound from my vlc player that i installed for ubuntu even though the video is clear enough.....pls help....im new to linux ...

did you try to volume up? alsa installs as zero volume by default.

and make sure that VLC has the codec for audio (but VLC should complain about that).

What are you using for sound? Alsa, Pulse-Audio ... ?
