no sound with Ubuntu7.04 + Toshiba A200-10X

hey all,

I just installed ubuntu 7.04 on my new toshiba a200-10x.
And i have a few problems 1 of them is no sound.

The strange thing is that the mixer is shown in the system tray.

anyhow how can i fix this? i found 1 tutorial,
To get audio output, edit /etc/modprobe.conf and add the parameter to the following lines:

options snd-card-0 index=0 model=3stack
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=3stack

but there is no modprobe.conf anywhere on my system.

any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks
