By default the install mutes the sound initially. Either go to the volume icon in the tray & adjust or open a terminal and open up alsamixer and adjust there.

If running alsamixer in the terminal and unmuting (i.e., hitting the "m" key on any level that displays "MM" at the bottom, meaning that it is muted. Hitting the "m" key will unmute that level). Also, turn each level all the way up with the up arrow key. Then close alsamixer by hitting the Esc key.

If that does not give you sound, post the output of these 2 commands from the terminal here:
Code:
lspci | grep -i audio
This will list the sound card(s) that Linux detects. Also post the output of:
Code:
lsmod | grep -i snd*
This will list the audio drivers that Linux has loaded on your system.
What computer are you using? Desktop? Laptop? Provide the make and model number if you can. Or if you built the computer yourself what is the sound chip on the motherboard or the sound card that you are using?
This will help us to diagnose your problem.
And welcome to the LQ forums!
