No sound in flashplayer-mozilla after killing and starting esd

Hello!

I've got a problem with the flash player and sound. Not a very big problem, but it's still kind of bothersome.
Sometimes I need to use Rosegarden, which won't work unless I do "killall esd" at the console. Then once I'm finished working with Rosegarden, I'll type "esd" at the console and that seems to successfully start esd again; GAIM will make its sounds again and totem will play sounds again. Thing is, though, after doing "killall esd" and starting esd again with "esd", the flash player still doesn't make sound. And the only way I know to have the flash player making sound again is to reboot.

Am I starting esd again in the wrong way or something? Is there something I can do to get the sound back in flashplayer after killing and starting esd again without rebooting?

The version of Ubuntu I use is 5.04 "hoary".

Thanks.
