nm-applet and battery missing from indicator applet in lucid
Recently the nm-applet and battery indicator is not showing in my indicator applet. I removed and re-added notification area and indicator applet but the result is the same. The indicator applet now has only the volume icon and the envelop icon. Network is up, there is no doubt about it, but the nm-applet is not showing.
Also I tried to restart nm-applet from terminal and got an error that it is already running.
Recent changes to network settings include using a DSL connection (using pppoeconf) instead of the regular wireless connection I use. However, I remember both the nm-applet and battery icons were present after I set the new network. So I do not think this has anything to do with the problem, still thought of mentioning.
I am running lucid lynx.
Any idea how to fix this?
Try enabling the root account by typing (in a terminal)
Everything went back to normal after few reboots! Though I didn't try the root account method. No idea why that happened.
On a different note, after using lucid lynx for few days, I felt it to be really bloated. So I have now switched to Debian Lenny.
