This is my first ever post to this forum; I am a newbie to linux, using it for about two months.
I'm using Ubuntu 6.06 and would like to upgrade to 6.10; I have a couple of questions please:
1) I have a 1.5ghz 256mb ram laptop and 6.06 runs pretty fast; how well would I be able to run 6.10? I tried installing it from CD but gave up as the installer was too slow.
2) Could I upgrade from 6.06 to 6.10 by just clicking the 'updates available' icon form the Ubuntu toolbar? Also, I've got 6.06 set up just as I like it, with a cool OS X theme; whatever method I use to upgrade, will the installation keep all my settings or wipe them all?
Well you dont really need to upgrade to 6.10 as 6.06 is the Long Term Support release. As for it taking away things i upgraded and didnt have any problems with it changing my files or anything. There are different ways to upgrade too not just the cd.
Ignore the post below for some reason i accidently double posted
