New Ubuntu install hasn't mounted windows hd or usb drive
 

I've just installed ubuntu and was expecting to be able to read my windows drives and my usb drive (they were all properly labeled during setup) but it doesn't appear to have done it. in /media there are folders "usb0" and "usb1" and a link to "usb", but none show any files. I was expecting to find my "hda" in /mnt, but that folder doesn't have anything. I'm a bit of a linux noob, but I think I can mount my usb stick (it came with instructions which I've used before successfully). I don't know where to begin for mounting my windows disks.

I simply checked those folders because that was how it worked in my last SuSE install.

mount /dev/hda /mnt/windows

hda is whatever partition windows is on, you have to create a directory in /mnt/ and you can name it whatever you want, change windows to suit your needs. mounting a drive is the same as mounting anything else.

The website of your linux distribution should be your fisrt resource. Google is your friend too.

Not sure if you answered question about whether this is an i386 box or an HP PA-RISC.

If it is the latter you might want to consider using Debian Linux as it is the one that HP is cooperating on for PA-RISC.

I'm running on an AMD 2500+, so I guess you could class that under i386, though I think it's technically i586.
I'm afraid I worded my question badly. My windows disc is actually divided into 4 partitions, so I wil have to mount hda-1, hda-2,....
Also, when I was trying to mount my windows discs under Red Hat 9, I remember having to supply an argument about the ntfs file system, and I would have thought that would still be the case.

a 2500 is a 686, so naturally it is a 386.

I followed the instructions from the link in your post and mounted my windows partition perfectly!
