Network Printer Setup?

This was posted on the Ubuntu forum and got no response. So, here we go again.

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 820 with a D-Link print server. The print server is connected to a lan port on my home network router. The printer works perfectly on WinXP, PCLinuxOS and Debian. I don't have a clue as to how to make it work on my Ubuntu installation. The Gnome printer setup has me baffled. I get as far as specifying a network printer, but what is the URI?? I have no clue.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks, jimbo

URI is just where you specify the address to the host. I think you could just use an IP address here.

What is the model number of the router? Are you using cups?
The print queue is /192.168.0.1/lp assuming default values.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I am using CUPS. The Router is a Netgear FWG114P. The print server is at IP address 192.168.0.100. The Netgear is at IP address 192.168.0.1.

On PCLinuxOS and Debian the host is entered as 192.168.0.100 and the print queue is entered as PS-1003BA which is the name of the D-Link print server.

Thanks for any additional help, jimbo
