Im new to linux and would be very grateful if anybody could help me.
Im trying to upgrade to breezy from hoary however i keep getting this error

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
abiword-common: Depends: abiword but it is not installed or
abiword-gnome but it is not installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

I attempted to use synaptic to fix abiword-common which it sais is broken however it failed.

Try doing the following command:

sudo apt-get -f dist-upgrade.

This will force an upgrade despite what dependencies might be needed. You can then fix abiword later by reinstalling, or completely removing/reinstalling if you still have problems.

Cheers,
Ben

Stretchn the subject here.

Seems i have a problem with my update manager, I think I know why, how and when it happened. I was updating a few weeks ago (yes, I waited this long to do anything about it.). the packages were all downloaded (i think) and the install process was moving along flawlessly. Black Out. Thank you Enron. Cause PG&E has been just fabulous since that lil "snafu" *cough* planned *cough*, but enough about that. So after about 2 hours, the power resumed and turned my sys on. Nothing noticable, works fine...okay, good to go. Go back to Synaptic to check for anymore updates (habit, can't help it. o.c., you know.)

DING!*
There is 1 (one) Broken package on your system, please use the "broken" filter to locate it.

Sure, K, why not.

Nothing. Doesn't even seem to search for more than a second.

When I try to install updates I download...I get several errors pertainging to lilypond. Don't how I got this, don't remember selecting it for download (assuming it was a prerequisite of some sort.)

Any install fails, evey time, no exception. When I review the terminal screen, i see lilypond in various locations.

Any words on how this may be resolved?
